Local partnership

We believe that to achieve sustainable development, people living in poverty benefit by getting organised in cooperatives or other democratic associations where each member has a vote and the organisation's driver is to meet the economic and the social needs of all members.

Cooperatives are independent of the State and run organised social and commercial activities that benefit the members. The primary driver is member benefit, thus combining democratic development with business development and social responsibility.

Always working in partnership

We Effect always work in partnership with local member-based organisations as advisers; in the formulation of the projects and through the processes of planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluation. We currently work with more than 150 partner organisations in some 20 countries.

Funder but not the owner

We Effect is the funder, but the partner organisation is the owner of the project, and the project is always based on the partner organisation’s own strategic objectives and plans in defence of its members’ interests and priorities.
