“I can say that people in need are experiencing this worse than all of us,” says Marie.
And although greatly affected by the corona crisis herself, she chose to think of the ones less fortunate than her.
“People that are having difficulties putting food on the table need every bit of help they can get,” says Marie. Along with couple of other women from the village, members of the women’s group of We Effect’s partner organisation AgroPuka, Marie decided to act.
The Gjegjan women’s group donated packages with various products such as jam, fruit juice or compote, produced in their women’s centre, to all families in need from their village.
Apart from providing food packages for the poorest, the women’s group also started sewing masks. “It’s important to do everything we can in order to protect our community’s health during these days”, Marie says.
The women of Gjegjan are alleviating the impact of this crisis in their community by reaching out to the ones in need and letting them know they are not alone. We commend them for this great act of solidarity that teaches us that we can all contribute by cooperating and supporting one another.
