Our Donors and Funding

We Effect is a trusted development organisation, founded and owned by some of Sweden’s largest cooperative businesses. We are supported by individuals, corporate partners, institutional donors, and through a long-standing partnership with Sida, Sweden’s government agency for development cooperation.

In 2024, we supported 185 partner organisations to improve lives through 215 projects across 20 countries.

Funding sources

We Effect’s work is made possible through a diverse portfolio of funding. In 2024, a Sida Framework Agreement accounted for the largest share of our income, contributing 50%. Other public grants represented 29% of our funding, while donations from individuals and corporate partners made up 16%. Grants from other NGOs contributed 4%, and the remaining 1% came from various other sources.

How we use our funds

We Effect is committed to using all funds responsibly and transparently to maximise impact. For every SEK 100 received, SEK 91 goes directly to development cooperation, SEK 6 supports administrative functions, and SEK 3 is invested in fundraising. Our financial practices are independently monitored through our 90-account by the Swedish Fundraising Control, ensuring that at least 75% of all funds are directed toward our mission, and that fundraising is conducted in an ethical and transparent manner.

Geographic distribution of program cost including advocacy work

We Effect’s development cooperation and advocacy efforts span multiple regions, reflecting our global commitment to the right to food and adequate housing. In 2024, the largest share of resources was raised and used in Southern Africa (32%), followed by Latin America (21%), Asia (17%), Eastern Africa (16%), and Europe (5%). Additional resources supported organisational operations in Sweden (7%) and global initiatives (2%).
