We Effect Eastern Africa
Partners and programmes, Eastern Africa
In Eastern Africa, We Effect partners with 28 organisations across Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. We support cooperatives and other member-based organisations to advance the right to food and adequate housing while strengthening resilience and promoting sustainable livelihoods for their members and communities. Through these partnerships, we extend our reach and collaborate on initiatives that create lasting positive change in the region.
Empowering smallholder farmers through innovative financing
In sub-Saharan Africa, around 80 percent of agricultural production is carried out by smallholder farmers, many of whom are rural women. Most economies in the region are predominantly agriculture-based. However, limited investment in value addition means that farming remains largely a low-income activity, often failing to provide adequate livelihoods for rural populations.
